Doing things for your Significant Other
A small study has revealed that doing things to make your significant other happy will make you love them more. A psychological phenomenon- it suggests that we grow to like the people who we do nice things for.
Referred to as the Ben Franklin Effect, which states that doing someone a favour makes you more likely do them another favour, as opposed to them doing you a favour and you being driven to do them a favour. Love follows a similar principle, so start doing things for the person you love.
Soul pancake recently did a test on the Science of Love. They grabbed a few couples willing to participate in their experiment. The experiment consisted of one partner being doted upon. The other partner verbally expressed his/her love, and brought drinks to their significant other. After the experiment, the partner who was doting upon their love said they found their partner 5% more attractive.
Remember that a relationship is all about give and take, and while we all love being doted upon, we should also do the doting. Something as simple as bringing your significant other breakfast or giving them a backrub will leave you both feeling loved and in love. If you are fortunate enough to have found someone that you’d like to spend the rest of your life with, you should be doing your utmost to strengthen your relationship. All it takes is a few simple thoughts and a few simple actions to make both of you happier.
